Adoption Profile Scrapbooks

Some profiles include the "Dear Birthmother Letter", while some agencies keep those letters separate. At Meant to Be, we will offer editorial assistance with the Dear Birthmother Letter, and provide guidance if asked. However, the Dear Birthmother Letter is so personal, we believe that it can only be written by the adoptive parents. We highly recommend the book Reaching Out, by Nelson Handel to assist you in this task.

When you choose Meant to Be, we will provide you with advice as to what types of photos to include in your profile. We can also help choose the photos. You will be able to choose a theme, color scheme, and other style preferences for your profile. You can choose how many pictures to include and how much text to include. We can assist you in writing the text surrounding the pictures. We will use your agency's guidelines to ensure that your profile meets their specifications. We do not use a standard template. Each profile is as unique as the family it presents.

Any service that tells you "we will ensure a match", especially in a given time frame, is not being truthful. Every expectant parent will connect with something different. In our case, our son's birthmom was impressed with a photo of the neighborhood kids playing together - which I threw in as an afterthought. She also liked that we had a Betta fish, because she had a Betta fish. Expectant parents have connected with specific photos, stickers, even with a particular color of paper. No one can tell you exactly what to include to make an expectant mother pick you. That's why Meant to Be encourages families to use their profiles to show who they really are, as opposed to marketing themselves as a product.
